Affiliate disclosure.
The honest version: how we make money, and why it doesn’t shape what we recommend.
The short version
As an Amazon Associate, The Black & White Blog earns from qualifying purchases.
The Black & White Blog is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com and affiliated sites.
What that means in plain English
Most product links on this site are affiliate links. If you click one and buy something on Amazon (the linked product or anything else, within roughly 24 hours of clicking), we earn a small commission. Your price is identical either way. Amazon pays the commission out of its own margin.
Affiliate revenue covers our hosting, software, and the time it takes to test and write reviews. It’s the entire reason this site exists in its current form.
Editorial independence
We make editorial choices first, then add affiliate links second. We don’t pick the highest-commission product. We pick the product we’d actually recommend, then link to wherever it’s available. If our top pick is only available outside Amazon, we’ll still recommend it and link to the best non-affiliate source.
We never accept payment for inclusion in a review, guide, or roundup. We don’t accept “sponsored content” that’s formatted to look editorial. If a brand sends us a sample to test, we say so in the article.
Pricing & availability
We don’t quote Amazon prices on our pages because they change constantly. The price you see on Amazon at the time of purchase is the price that applies to your transaction. If a product becomes unavailable or substantially worse value, we update the article.
Cookies from affiliate links
When you click an Amazon link from our site, Amazon may set cookies on your device to track the referral. These cookies are governed by Amazon’s own Privacy Notice. See our Privacy Policy for how third-party services interact with this site more broadly.
Other affiliate programs
We currently participate in Amazon Associates only. If we add other programs in the future (B&H, REI, manufacturer direct, etc.), we’ll list them here and disclose them on individual articles.
