What we cover

The Black & White Blog focuses on three things: photography gear, baby and family essentials, and thoughtful gift guides for people who already have the easy stuff. We pick a small number of categories on purpose, because we’d rather know one shelf cold than half-know the whole store.

Why we exist

Most product review sites are race-to-the-bottom listicles built for search engines, not readers. They tell you the “25 best” of everything because that’s what ranks. The recommendations are interchangeable, the “Cons” sections are written to be ignored, and the affiliate links pile up like leaves.

We’re trying to do the opposite: smaller guides, real opinions, and the willingness to say “don’t buy this.” A useful review tells you what something is actually like to live with, not just the spec sheet rephrased five different ways.

How we’re funded

This site is funded entirely through affiliate commissions, primarily through the Amazon Associates Program. When you click a product link and buy something, we may earn a small commission at no additional cost to you. We never accept payment for inclusion in a review or guide. Editorial choices are made independently of revenue.
